Holiday Makeup Must-Haves

Although Halloween is approaching, I’m not too concerned about costume choices. But I can’t say the same about the rest of 2011’s upcoming holidays. The months ahead bring many important looks to plan, and I’m loving the 1940s glamorous hair and makeup much of Hollywood is wearing (like Madonna). While it might seem natural to coordinate your holiday makeup around your holiday outfits, I’m going a different route this holiday season.

Taking a cue from Jason Garner, DuWop Makeup Artist and National Training Manager, I’m revolving my outfits around my makeup. Garner predicts a radiant complexion, sultry silver metallic eyes, soft cheeks and a bold red lip as this holiday season’s must-have look. And from the looks of Hollywood, Garner’s predictions are on the ball.

“Holiday makeup trends this year pay homage to the femme fatales of Film Noir, such as Lana Turner, Veronica Lake and Barbara Stanwyck,” says Garner. “Makeup 50 years ago looked effortless and sophisticated, but also dramatic and bold; a look that was achieved by enhancing the beautiful attributes these women embodied. The Hollywood beauty icons from the golden age were truly captivating.”

DuWop offers some great products for achieving this iconic Hollywood look, but you might already have all you need-including the little back dress.

Here’s our list of essentials.
• Red lipstick
• Black eyeliner
• Metallic eye shadow (silver is our pick this winter)
• Black mascara
• Shimmer or illuminating highlighter (for above the cheekbones)
• Rose Blush
• Foundation
