Relieve Tired Eyes In Minutes

Under-eye puffiness and bags can cause a tired, worn-out look that sleep alone can't always solve. “Some people are born with bags under their eyelids, which can get worse as they get older,” says New York oculoplastic surgeon Joseph A. Eviatar, MD. “It depends on anatomy and genetics, but the most common reason for bags is loss of volume in the midface around age 20 or 30.”
So how do you get rid of them? If the cause of your under-eye bags is hollowing and loss of fat, the best treatment is often to add volume in the midface (the area under the eye bone) with filler such as Juvéderm, Restylane, Radiesse, Sculptra Aesthetic or even your own fat. “Filler injected under the eyes builds back lost volume, camouflages the bulging fat pad and gives a rested look,” says Miami dermatologist Andrea Trowers, MD. Dr. Eviatar adds that customization is key, which is why it is important to discuss all options with your doctor. “In some cases, if you add filler to a patient who has too much fat, they're going to look puffier. If you have excess fat and loose skin, then surgery may be needed,” he says.
But regardless of what treatment you chose to alleviate your under-eye bags, your skin-care routine should be taken into account. “Apply a sunblock, a retinoid and an antioxidant product every day so the skin surrounding the eyes looks its best,” Dr. Trowers says.
