Rejuvenate Dull Strands

Shiny hair is a sign of healthy hair. Shine-inducing products, which usually contain silicone, can create mirror-like strands, but truly shiny hair starts at the root. “Product buildup can cause hair to become dull and flat. Many shampoos and conditioners are loaded with ingredients like parabens and sulfates that can strip down the integrity of your hair,” explains celebrity hairstylist Steve Lococo of Borelli Salon in Beverly Hills, CA. “Even though these ingredients make your hair feel soft, they act as a wax,” On days that you forgo shampoo, Lococo suggests rinsing your hair for five minutes while massaging the scalp to loosen up any residue.

If your hair is void of shine, treat it. Regular deep-conditioning treatments are beneficial since they repair damaged hair and add shine and manageability. “Try one that employs heat. It really locks in the hair's natural sheen and color,” adds Lococo. For superclean, shiny hair, use a deep-cleansing shampoo at least once a week and always apply a conditioner.

After just one shine-enhancing treatment, especially one that incorporates heat, expect your hair to be supershiny, smooth, hydrated and lustrous for at least one month.
