Can you believe it's been 40 years since the debut of the cult classic mascara in the pink and green tube? Since then, Great Lash has become America's No. 1 selling mascara, with one sold every 1.7 seconds in the US. With more than 20 million tubes sold a year, it's not surprising that this beauty staple is coveted by all sorts of women, from businesswomen to supermodels. Even celebrities worship the stuff, like Mary J. Blige, Selena Gomez, Kate Beckinsale, Kim Kardashian, Chloe Sevigny and Nicole Richie, just to name a few. I would tell you how great it is, but you probably already know.
In honor of Maybelline New York's Great Lash mascara's 40th birthday, the iconic tube is getting a makeover. As a sponsor of this year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Maybelline has partnered with three fashion designers to create limited-edition packaging for Great Lash mascara for this milestone anniversary. Max Azria, Tracy Reese and Vivienne Tam took inspiration from their own collection to create their own take on the classic packaging, which will be available for purchase this month.
