Kardashian Sister Suffers From Skin Condition

Reality star Kim Kardashian is gracing front pages and headlines as usual, but this time for a different reason. The it-girl known for her good looks and sense of style revealed to the world that she suffers from psoriasis. The non-contagious, form of skin inflammation plagues millions and we're happy to see a public figure in the spotlight speaking up about common skin conditions. But with Kim's wedding coming up early this month, we're hoping her psoriasis doesn't get in the way, so we reached out to New York, NY, dermatologist Dennis Gross MD, to get all the facts.

"It is absolutely possible to live with psoriasis. If you are diligent and follow doctor's orders, the rash can be made invisible. Psoriasis' condition is hard to predict because its symptoms vary. It could be a little patch that you get once or twice (and cream takes it away) or it could be something that comes and goes for the rest of your life and covers your body. People with this condition should avoid stress and alcohol. External pressure can irritate the condition too, but most of the time it is caused by genetics. A good tip for Kim (on her wedding day) is to keep her stress levels low and avoid tight shoes and sandal straps, etc," says Dr. Gross.

I don't have psoriasis but I do have sebhoreic dermatitis. Actually, my personal condition is called "cradle cap" which usually affects newborns. I get it on my scalp, ears, nose bridge, and face in general, not below the chin line. It is crusty and it comes and goes. I have been to a couple of dermatologists about it and they just give me shampoo. I looked it up online and they said that it is a condition caused by either fungal issues OR overactive sebaceous glands. In both cases there was treatment; for the overactive sebaceous glands there was a medication to take and for the fungal there was something else to take. If this is, in fact, true, why didn't the other derms recommend these treatments? thanks

I agree with person about the pounds of makeup she wears and how fake she looks. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but maybe if she went more natural and started using healthy products this would not happen....but really, who gives a crap!

All 3 of the Kardashian Sisters are beyond beautiful. I don't understand the negative comments about any of them. They are people too, they've just been blessed with gorgeous faces and figures. Yes, they might have had a little work done here or there, but who cares. I give Kim a big thumbs up for having the courage to go on national television and talk about her skin issue. I'd trade my rashless skin to look like kim and have some rashes any day.

Okay most people will NEVER no the stress this woman deals with every minute. so Please keep your hater comments to your self. Maybe Kim should look into coconut oil, It can be eaten and applied to the skin as a healing agent. Look, Google it and read... the stuff is amazing for so many things and so good for your health. The people who eat and use it on a regular basis have the most beautiful hair and skin in the world. It will help turn over the skin faster. Good luck Kim and Happy wedding day.

This is a woman who has frequently bragged about having all the hair on her body lazered off, and who wears so much makeup, you feel like you're in a toxic haze standing next to her (yes, I've had the misfortune of being near all of them over the last few years). She has glue on hair weaves added to her scalp on a regular basis. I also believe she uses botox or something similar, becuz if you look at her face, it has changed rather dramatically in the last few years. With all that abuse to her skin, is it any wonder she has skin problems? The irony here is that she was much prettier several years ago, when she was still relatively unknown and before she became a fake "beauty".

It's not a "rash" it's an auto-immune disease where the skin doesn't shed properly and builds on top of it self. It's also a life long disease and there is no cure.

I think it is unfortuante that she (or anyone) suffers from this condition, but I give her credit for letting the world know. Some people judge her for being too open, but I think she should get credit for this!

I know someone who has it and it is a very painful condition. Just dealing with it is stressful.
