What’S The Best Post-Workout Drink?

After a workout most of us reach for plain old water or some sort of sports drink. But two new studies out of The University of Texas at Austin reveal that chocolate milk might actually be the ideal post-workout recovery drink.
The team compared recovery benefits from chocolate milk, a full-calorie sports drink and a zero-calorie drink. According to the lead researcher of the study, when athletes drank low-fat chocolate milk after a strenuous workout, they experienced physical recovery benefits better than the other drinks. The benefits include better body composition (more muscle and less fat), improved times while working out and overall better physical shape.
More research is necessary to determine what it is about chocolate milk that offers these benefits, but the researchers suspect is has something to do with the naturally occurring protein/carbohydrate combination.
