What's The Best Diet?

Anyone who has ever done the slightest bit of research about all the different types of diets out there-strolling through the nutrition section at the bookstore, Google searches, talking to friends and family-knows that finding the right one can be a daunting task. There are just too many options to choose from. So, in an effort to help consumers make the decision process a little easier, U.S. News Media Group, known for its annual rankings of best colleges and hospitals, has published a “Best Diets” rankings. Broken down into five categories, the rankings were determined by a panel of 22 experts, which included nutritionists, dietitians, cardiologists and diabetologists, who reviewed comprehensive profiles of 20 of the top diets and ranked them within each category.
According to the rankings, consumers looking for the Best Weight-Loss diets, should consider Weight Watchers, which ranked number one. Tied in second place were the Jenny Craig diet and the Raw Food diet.
In the category of Best Heart-Healthy diets, The Ornish Diet was the top pick, while the TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes) diet ranked number two and the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet was the third best choice.
The DASH Diet ranked first on the list of Best Diabetic Diets, while the Mayo Clinic Diet, Ornish Diet and Vegan Diet shared the number two ranking.
The top three rankings in the category of Best Commercial Diet Plans, in order, are Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig and Slim-Fast.
In the final category, Best Diet Overall, the DASH Diet once again ranked number one. The Mediterranean Diet, TLC Diet and Weight Watchers shared a three-way tie for the second place ranking.
