Secrets To Sexy Summer Strands
By Marissa Hicken |
Summer hair is not always easy. If you have long locks, you know that wearing them down all summer long is not an option. It's only the beginning of June and we're already roasting. Looks like it's going to be a hot one. Vince Smith, owner of downtown Manhattan's The Vince Hair Experience gave us these summer hair tips for hair as hot as the heat:
• To protect your hair in the pool, apply leave-in conditioner before swimming. It prevents the chlorine from being absorbed. After swimming, shampoo and rinse the hair with a chlorine removing shampoo.
• The best look for the beach is a slicked back ponytail. Put some deep conditioner in as well.
• To make your highlights last longer in the summer, go darker on the roots and lighter on the ends. This way you don't notice the regrowth as much.
Want to try and rock the over-sized top knot like Hilary Duff? To get this trendy bun, Vince says to blow-dry hair with your head flipped over for added volume. Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic band. Divide strands into three sections and backcomb each one. Wrap each section individually around the base of your ponytail to up the poof factor. Keep in place with bobby pins. Sexy and simple.
