Fight Signs Of Aging In Fair Skin

Fight Signs Of Aging In Fair Skin featured image

Fair skin is usually the first to show the signs of aging, which can happen as early as the mid to late twenties. Because fair skin is thinner and contains less melanin, it’s more susceptible to sun-related aging.

Fair skin has difficulty defending itself from the sun, so in its attempt to produce melanin, it can lead to freckles and hyperpigmentation. Brightening creams with hydroquinone and retinol work well to combat discoloration in fair skin, as do IPL and laser treatments.

Dryness in light skin can occur for many reasons. While the sun is partially to blame, weather, lifestyle choices and even skincare products can bring about dryness. When the outer layer of skin is void of water, it can’t protect itself as well, and dead skin cells make their way to the surface, giving way to flakiness.

Dry fair skin responds well to moisturizer and, again, retinol. Retin-A, for example, helps to regulate the pace at which surface cells turns over, which can help eliminate dryness.

Because of fair skin’s lower level of melanin, more UV light is absorbed, which leads to a breakdown in collagen and, therefore, fine lines. When it comes to treating these fine lines, especially around the the eyes and between the eyebrows, Botox and Dysport are the go-to solution. If the lines are coupled with changes in skin texture, then IPL and laser resurfacing can be used to rebuild collagen.
