Turn Bathtime Into A Beauty Treatment

A bath is so much more than a way to get clean.

It makes "your whole equilibrium rebalanced," says Regine Berthelot, treatment manager at The Plaza's Caudalie Spa, known for its signature oak barrel baths and vinotherapy. "You completely decongest, you completely relax, and you're ready for body treatments."

You don't need to visit a spa to have a spa-like bathing experience, however. Following a few tips can make your next bath blissful.

The ideal warmth of the bath should be a little warmer than your body temperature (between 113 and 118 degrees Fahrenheit) but not so hot that you get heart palpitations, Berthelot says.

Give your body time to relax, but don't soak all day-20 minutes should do it. A few drops of a favorite essential oil is great to add to the water for absorption and aromatherapy.

For multi-tasking, Berthelot recommends Caudalie's Merlot Friction Scrub with brown sugar, grapeseed oil and mint extracts.

"If you exfoliate your body before going in the bath, you can sit in the bath with the exfoliating product on your skin, Berthelot says. The sugars and mint will dissolve, and the essential oils will deeply penetrate your skin.
