Simplified Straightening With A Strand-Smoothing Gel

When it comes to hair, we always want what we don't have. So even though I proudly embrace my no-fuss, wash-and-go waves, I crave straight strands on a regular basis. But I'm so spoiled by how little I have to do to make my natural texture work, blow-drying and flat-ironing feel like hard labor.

Luckily, going straight has gotten much easier since I discovered the aptly named Straight Hair by Philip Kingsley. (Initially, I pictured Ben Kingsley, who, ironically, has no hair, straight or otherwise.) The gelatinous formula is activated by heat to smooth wavy and curly hair into a temporarily straight state.

Fortified by vitamins A, E and B5 (panthenol), Straight Hair's scientifically sophisticated composition protects color while fighting frizz and unlinking kinks, leaving hair hopelessly sleek.

Does it make straightening my hair as easy as leaving it wavy? No. But it has turned the process from torturous to tolerable, with results that make any effort worthwhile.
