A New Twist On The Shampoo-Conditioner Combo
By Marci Robin |
There was a time when I had written off two-in-one shampoo-and-conditioner combos as something only men with short hair could get away with using. Any woman who uses one, I imagined, would have to have seriously oily hair to not need a separate conditioner. But recently, Head Organics changed the way I think about two-in-ones.
The 40-year-old brand's 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner came into my possession recently, but despite its delicious scent, I was reluctant to try it because of my long, conditioner-craving locks. It was when I looked at the product listing on Head's official website that I had an epiphany. "For best results," it read, "follow with Clearly Head Conditioner for deeper conditioning."
That's it! Instead of thinking of two-in-ones as a deficient source of conditioning for my kind of hair, think of them as especially conditioning shampoos to be used before straight-up conditioner. Genius!
And Head's 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner really is genius. The eco-friendly formula contains fortifying natural and organic ingredients like sunflower seed oil, green and white teas, cranberry, pomegranate, aloe and panthenol. What it's missing is important, too: sulfates, parabens, gluten, and glycol.
I don't see using a two-in-one as the first of two steps as a way to defeat the purpose of a two-in-one. For me, at least, it's a lot of extra conditioning, which is what I need, without adding a third step.
