A Smart Way To Start To An Anti-Aging Regimen

One of my dad's best lines is, "You never make any new old friends." So it's little wonder I keep coming back to dermalogica. I've been a heavy user of the brand since long before I could afford it; I even used to go to a facialist who used the line exclusively. I've tried nearly every product they make, but my new (and by "new" I mean "in the last couple years") go-to is their AGE smart line.

The AGE smart line has a starter kit with smaller versions of staple products, like their skin resurfacing cleanser, antioxidant hydramist, dynamic skin recovery SPF 30, multivitamin power recovery masque, and an amazing little tube of MAP-15 regenerator, which starts as a powder, but emulsifies in your hands when you rub them together (it works as a great resurfacer).

There is nothing in this kit that I wouldn't use every single day, but we're in a recession, so I'll stick to the basics. Two things I can't live without are the antioxidant hydramist and the dynamic skin recovery-they are truly two of the finest products I've ever come across. The hydramist is a spray toner, but it's much more substantive than most spray toners I've tried; it's like a light moisturizer that you don't have to rub in. It sits beautifully atop makeup, to boot.

Dynamic skin recovery is a fine, healing moisturizer, packed with antioxidants and peptides that pep up your skin. It also has an SPF 30 rating, which saves me an extra step, and it offers both UVA and UVB protection to prevent wrinkling and brown spots on your face and neck. (Even the full-size product is less than three ounces, so you can travel with it.)

You can buy dermalogica products at a multitude of authorized locations, but their flagship store is in Santa Monica, California, where I got the best facial I've had for the least amount of money.

Dermalogica is like a solid boyfriend: you use it for years, sometimes you stray, sometimes you mistake "boring" for "consistent," but you always come back.
