A New Mom's Secret For Silky Lips
By Heather Long, Aesthetician |
I've always had the driest lips of anyone I know. I swore once I became an aesthetician, I would solve the the problem for not only myself, but everyone else who suffers from dry lips. I tried everything-scrubs, AHAs, masks, every lip balm imaginable (natural and otherwise), etc.-but I was always left with the same results. That is, until I became a mother.
Lansinoh is a lanolin ointment meant for healing dry, cracked or chapped nipples in those early days of breastfeeding, when that sensitive skin needs to prepare for the long haul. It's safe for babies, so you don't need to wash it off before nursing.
It used to get all over my son's lips, and I couldn't help noticing that he always had the softest lips. Then, I remembered reading on an online breastfeeding community that some mothers were using it as a lip balm for themselves.
Nearly eight months later, way past needing it for its intended purpose, I pulled out my tube of Lansinoh and gave it a try. The results were amazing!
I found that a very small dab goes a long way, and the effect lasted for hours. Once the product has completely soaked in (or rubbed off), my lips are left seriously silky. The tube has a lot of product in it, so it will last a very long time. And if you are a new mom, you get double the use out of it! In fact, I have since found even more uses for it, putting it on dry areas like my feet, elbows and cuticles.
Now I wonder, what would I have done for my lips if I had never become a mother?
