Massage's Medical Miracles

As someone with fibromyalgia-a chronic disorder known for widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue-I've spent a lot of time and money looking for relief. It never occurred to me that I should look to a masseuse, but CNN recently reported that professional massages could improve upon the symptoms of my medical condition and various others.
People with just about any ailment that causes pain can medically benefit from the reduced cortisol and increased serotonin and dopamine levels that come with massage. That hormonal shift also means a boost in immunity and relief from anxiety and depression. Insomniacs may find it easier to sleep, thanks to the increased delta brain waves. Some women even found that professional massage decreased PMS-related water retention.
