Busy Philipps Didn't Wear Foundation to the Emmys But She Did Wear This Clean Cream Blush

Busy Philipps was standing right by BFF Michelle Williams' side when she took home the Emmy for her performance in Fosse/Verdon Sunday night. The dresses! The acceptance speech! The after party! And the—gasp!—legit no-makeup makeup look Philipps was sporting all earned some well-deserved buzz.

As referenced by the pink pastel–haired Philipps on her ever-entertaining Instagram stories, there was some earlier-day sweating at her regular haunt of LEKFIT and some specifically placed neck and under-eye masks—as well as a special shoutout to celeb aesthetician Joanna Czech—for the pre-show portion.

So happy with my lewk from last night!!! THANK YOU @lelarose for making this custom dreamy yellow gown that was so perfect with the flower hairpins and earrings and rings that my dear beautiful talented friend @ireneneuwirth made which complimented my pale purple @judithleiberny clutch and even though you couldn't see them, my @stuartweitzman heels were high but weirdly didn't hurt my feet and really that's the best thing💛Styling: @karlawelchstylist @gracewrightsell 💛 Hair: @kikihaircutter 💛makeup: @lizlash manicure: @nailjob 💛skin: @rachelleighbryant at @joannaczechofficial
But, when it came to makeup application time, Philipps' makeup artist, Liz Lash, skipped the traditionally almost mandatory red carpet–step of applying foundation.
"It was definitely a hands-on experience," Lash says. "I used my fingers to 'push' the cream color into the apples of the cheeks and buffed it out with the back of a Beautyblender."
The best part (beside the gorgeous end result overall)? The blush also houses a coordinating highlighter in a good-for-your-skin formula so the rest of us can minimize our prep time AND multitask back in the real world.
