Ayesha Curry isn’t about sugar-coating things. After welcoming her second child, Ryan, in 2015, the author and wife of NBA all-star Steph Curry told Working Mother magazine she was battling a bit of postpartum depression. “It came in the form of me being depressed about my body. So I made a rash decision.” That decision ended up being a breast lift—but it didn’t go as planned.

“The intention was just to have them lifted, but I came out with these bigger boobs I didn’t want,” she explains. “I got the most botched boob job on the face of the planet. They’re worse now than they were before. I would never do anything like that again, but I’m an advocate of if something makes you happy, who cares about the judgement?”

By now, we know that choosing a plastic surgeon is a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. While trusting only a board-certified plastic surgeon with proper training who is practicing within scope will significantly minimize risk, it’s crucial to also communicate your expectations and concerns before deciding to hit the operating table. If you’ve undergone a procedure such as breast enhancement and aren’t happy with the results, talk to your surgeon about a revision surgery—they’re more common than you’d think and go a long way in restoring lost confidence.
