Even in the middle of the matte moment, I’ve always loved dewy skin. As someone with acne-prone, combination skin, facial oils do the heavy lifting in creating the illusion that I’ve woken up with naturally nourished skin—an illusion I work hard to maintain.
Facial oils can be a bit of a “Goldilocks & the 3 Bears” scenario. In my illustrious career as a facial oil hoarder, I’ve tried versions that are too heavy for daywear, that barely sink into skin, and that (dear god) break me out. But Koh Gen Do Macro Vintage T3 Premium Oil ($138) is just right.
This oil layers onto skin beautifully, soaking into skin within a minute or two. It leaves behind the dewy sheen that lets you know the product is working, with none of the tacky or just plain wet residue of lesser facial oils. Just one to two drops, patted into the skin, are enough to coat the entire face.
In the mornings, I blend the drops on the back of my hand with foundation, then use a brush for makeup. With very little product incorporated into the foundation, it’s turned my medium-coverage shade into perfectly dewy and soft-appearing skin.
