Let’s Just Get to the Point:
This lightweight, aloe-based serum uses live probiotics, plant oils and antioxidants to firm sagging skin and boost its microbiome, leaving you with a calmed complexion and radiant glow.

If You Want to Know More:
If you take a gander at my first and last name, you can probably guess that I’m as Irish-American as it gets—and you can bet I’ve inherited the notorious overly-sensitive skin from my ancestors, too.

So when I discovered the LaFlore® Probiotic Serum Concentrate ($140), my eczema and acne-prone, easily-irritated skin made a sigh of relief after each application. Live probiotics are one of the key ingredients in this yellow-tinted serum, and each one helps to calm, brighten and protect your skin while boosting elastin and collagen production, too. Aloe (first on the ingredients list) is normally associated with sunburns, but the bioactives and minerals in the leaf juice work wonders in nourishing and hydrating compromised skin.

Other noteworthy ingredients included in this vegan and gluten-, cruelty-, and paraben-free serum are St. John’s Wort Oil and Sea Buckthorn Oil. Sourced directly from LaFlore® Probiotic Skincare’s organic growers and harvest-day shipped (to preserve phytoactivity), St. John’s Wort Oil is anti-inflammatory and has been used to soothe sensitive (and sunburned) skin for decades. Sea Buckthorn Oil contains high levels of beta carotene to help fight against acne breakouts and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Incorporating this serum into my routine was easy—it’s pretty lightweight and absorbs quickly, leaving my skin feeling hydrated but not greasy. I used the fragrance-free serum after cleansing and before applying my moisturizer, and since the directions suggested I apply this in the evening, I used it once a day before bedtime and let it work its magic throughout the night. Had I applied in the morning, I’m sure this serum would also look great underneath powder or liquid makeup, too.

Studies have proven that a disrupted microbiome on the skin can increase the likelihood of developing premature aging, acne, atopic dermatitis and general skin sensitivity, but reintroducing probiotics (either orally, topically or both) can help resupply the diverse flora your dermis needs. Considering this serum truly helped diminish my facial eczema and relieve redness after two weeks of daily use, I definitely believe the probiotic hype.
