Carrie Underwood is still dealing with the aftershock of her accident that sent her to the hospital almost a year ago.

When she made her first public appearance earlier this year, the country singer dealt with major backlash when people said she looked exactly the same. She also talks about her experience on the Ellen show just a few weeks ago, confessing she was worried people would think she got work done.

Most recently, Underwood posted a selfie taken when she was filming her Love Wins music video. Even though her smokey eyes and the colorful face paint stand out, you can see just a slight scar on her upper lip. With her lips pursed and hair pulled back, the scar is especially visible.

Once again, there was some backlash but there were also some really supportive, beautiful comments.

“I can’t see any scar threw all that beauty,” one person wrote.

Another one commented, “Beautiful inside and out @carrieunderwood my daughters just loves you carrie.”

The hardship of her accident has followed her for quite some time now. She told Redbook, “I’m on some magazine every other week for something crazy. It’s a little sad because the truth is just as interesting. I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better. But I try not to worry too much about it.”

No matter the difficulty she’s been through, the singer has continued to create with her album, Cry Pretty, releasing just last month. As for her appearance, Underwood continues to be a role model of strength and beauty for women and girls everywhere.
