Now, it shouldn't be too surprising that this trend is taking off—after all, we are currently in one of the hottest months of the year. But while this trend has been seen as semi-scruffy in the past, it's popularity is proving that the style is finally breaking through it's previous stereotype of a gym-only look and moving into trés chic territory (or at least close to it). 

Ultimately, if there's anything that this report truly confirms, it's that the messy topknot is quite possibly the trendiest hairstyle of the year.
