When Ethel Easter decided to undergo surgery to have a hernia fixed, she, unlike most people who go under for surgery, decided to hide a small recorder in her hair extensions. The reason: she had doubts about the doctor performing the surgery and didn’t feel comfortable with him, but her insurance had limitations on who she could elect to perform the surgery. Turns out, her hunch was right. Post-procedure, she listened to the taping and heard awful comments about her by both her surgeon and his staff, calling her, “a handful” and saying, “She had some choice words for us in the clinic when we didn’t book her case within two weeks.” Also on the tape was a nurse making fun of her belly button and the surgeon saying he felt bad for her husband. Easter took to Facebook and denounced that her surgeon treated her poorly.
After the operation, Easter experienced stabbing pains at every meal. When she asked her doctor what the cause was, he said, “Who do you think you are? You have to wait just like everybody else.”

Easter told Yahoo!, “When you are lying there and these people have you uncovered and you trust them and they speak like this, it’s a bad situation. It’s given me self-esteem issues.”
At the moment, Easter doesn’t have any plans to instate a lawsuit, but instead has taken to social media to share her experience.
Bottom line: If you have a bad feeling about your surgeon, trust your gut and do your homework. Chances are, you can save yourself a lot of hurt and heartache.
