Haircuts

We don’t discount for a second the importance of paying for a good cut—it makes all the difference. On average, Americans spend about $75 on haircuts while women in Venezuela shell out about $123 for their cuts.

Foundation

Foundation is a staple makeup product in most women’s beauty arsenal. The pageant-obsessed Venezuelans spend upward of $12,500 on foundation, whereas American women spend just $28.

Mascara

The eyes are the windows to the soul and coating them with layers of mascara makes them come alive. Being that we have become a lash-crazed world, it comes as no surprise that Norwegians spend almost double on mascara compared to Americans—$15 versus $6.

Anti-aging products

It makes perfect sense that the effortless French woman spends a few dollars more ($44) on their beloved anti-aging products than Americans ($39). However, when it comes to beauty treatments like manicures and pedicures, waxing, hair cuts and color and even lipstick, Americans tend to spend more than the French. Yet, the French spend more than we do on foundation, mascara and perfume.

Perfume

Japanese women spend the most on fragrance and even outspend those in France and the U.S., spending almost twice as much as what we do on perfume. The Japanese will pay around $80 for perfume; Americans pay about $48.
