This Genius Phone Case Is Here to Replace Your Makeup Bag

Makeup meltdowns are unpredictable. Whether at work or out on the town, we’ve all stood in front of a mirror and wished we had stuffed that lipstick or concealer into our clutch before we walked out the door, but one thing is for certain: Having some extra reinforcement with you to save the day should your makeup start to melt is always a great feeling. Responding to the attachment we have to our cell phones and the need we have to keep our makeup nearby, a new invention is about to change the way we carry our must-haves with us for good.
PoutCase is an iPhone case that features a slide-out compartment to house a customizable three-piece palette for a convenient take on makeup application (read: The need to carry your makeup bag with you everywhere is now eliminated). Here’s how it works: Choose your case online (there are a few gorgeous color combinations to choose from), customize your own palette—select between four shades of foundation, seven shades of lipstick (the brand designed these to be applied to lips, cheeks or used as an eye gloss) and a clear, hydrating lip balm—then attach it to the back of your case for a personalized makeup bag wherever you go. Designed to be applied with your phone’s front-facing camera, touching-up has never been quicker or faster.
The idea sparked in the mind of the founder (and former investment banker) Nafissa Chodieva when she was leaving the gym with a few minutes to spare before a meeting when she realized she no makeup bag with her. Bare-faced in said meeting, her sister passed her a compact under the table, which she discreetly attached to her phone using a hairband and left the room to quickly touch up. Her phone then primarily became the main focus for an easier solution to look, feel and be at her best. She began working on the invention the very next day.
The PoutCase is currently available for preorder on its website. The UK-based brand lists the price of the case at $38 USD, and any of the mix-and-match makeup products are listed for £20, which comes out to around $25. It’s no drugstore pricing, but they do say that you can’t put a price tag on convenience, right?
