A Top Celebrity Makeup Artist Shares the 5 Looks That Will Be In for Spring

Celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles not only works with some of Hollywood's biggest stars—Lily Collins, Sienna Miller and Bryce Dallas Howard, to name a few—but she was also one of the most googled makeup artists of 2016. She even has her own makeup line (and it's a good one). We recently caught up with the beauty guru to hear about her favorite makeup trends for spring and how to wear them for a cutting-edge look. These five made her list, which she says is "as much of a wish list as it is a prediction."

"Right now, makeup is all over the place, in a good way. It's all about self-expression," says Stiles. "In a world where seeing full-on glitter lips is as viable as stacks and stacks of lashes, or a beauty like Zoë Kravitz with glossy skin and not much else, the world is your oyster. Just wear it like you mean it and you can’t go wrong."

1. Flushed Cheeks
"Personally, I love a flushed cheek. Nothing says youth and vitality like a softly flushed cheek. Finding the right shade of blush can be tricky, and for me it’s about one without shimmer, or if it has shimmer, it’s more of a sheen so it looks like skin, not makeup. I also love the idea of bringing the look of a cheek that’s just come in from the cold and translating it for spring and summer. You can pair it with a fully made-up face or just a little mascara and a lip stain."

2. Bold Brows/Bare Face
"This is sort of the Glossier aesthetic: a clean face and well-groomed, sculpted brows. It’s all about glossy skin, and actually really seeing the skin, but having the brows groomed makes the look intentional, not lazy. It’s a very fashion-forward look; a laissez-faire attitude that imparts the vibe of effortless, but it’s really about meticulous skin care and just the right beauty products to get that 'I just woke up like this' look."

Product picks: Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish ($72), Glossier Boy Brow ($16) and RMS Beauty Living Luminizer ($38)

3. Pink on the Eyes
"This can be intimidating for a makeup novice, but it’s actually really fresh and pretty. The key to this trend is to avoid shimmer and anything too vibrant. You really want a soft wash of pink on the eyes, and one that’s a bit on the dusty side. Vibrant, shimmery pink will make you lean toward sickly, while a pale, dusty rose will look fresh and pretty and modern."

Product picks: Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow in Rose Dentelle or Rose Illusion ($26) and Sephora Collection Colorful Shadow & Liner in Pretty Little Thing ($14)

4. Nude Everything
"Is there anything more chic than a fully sculpted, beautiful face that looks buttery and defiantly polished? Think the Kim K. effect. Everything blends in perfectly and nothing stands out, and the look all works harmoniously together. Every part of the face is considered, and has makeup on it, but it never looks heavy or overly done. It’s the ultimate makeup goal. It comes down to sculpting, bronzing, luminizing and contouring."

Product picks: Fiona Stiles Sheer Sculpting Palette ($28), NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30) and Surratt Beauty Artistique Eyeshadow in Greige, Ombre and Idioliste ($20)

5. Splash of Color on the Lips
"Nothing is easier and more timeless than a splash of vibrant color on the lips. It elevates any look, is easy to do and instantly changes your attitude and outlook on life. This can be a vibrant red, an electric pink, a deep slap of berry, or an outlandish orange. The point is to wake you up and shake you out of your ho-hum day-to-day. Here's what I love about a bright lip: you can pair it with a full face of makeup, or the barest of faces. It can complement a sculpted face or a flushed cheek. It’s so universally flattering and uplifting, which is why season after season, year after year, it’s always on trend."
