This Popular Trader Joe’s Food Item Is Being Recalled Due to an Inedible Ingredient
By Julie Ricevuto |
Trader Joe’s houses some of the best food, beauty and household products we’ve yet to find elsewhere, but while this store will always top our list as a favorite, they too can still fall victim to some pretty major product issues. This time, the mega store recently announced a recall on one of its popular food products, and the reason is terrifying.

According to a press release announced by the company, three types of its own brand’s apple sauce have been recalled for “potential presence of glass pieces in the product.” The following products, with barcodes 00015905, 00194877, and 00014359, have been included in the recall:
- Trader Joe’s First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce (only products with “best before” date Aug. 08. 2018)
- Trader Joe’s Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce (only products with “best before” date Oct. 06, 2018)
- Trader Joe’s Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce (only products from select stores with “best before” date Dec. 16, 2018)
Luckily, all affected products have already been pulled from store shelves, however, it’s still important to double check all the Trader Joe’s apple sauce you’ve bought prior to the recall. If you happen to find one of the listed products at home, you should immediately throw it out or return it to any Trader Joe’s stores for a full refund.
