This News From Target Will Change Its Beauty Department Forever
By Julie Ricevuto |
When it comes to buying top-quality beauty products, Target has become one of our favorite shopping destinations. Not only has it recently stocked its shelves with some stellar K-beauty products, but it also just announced what may be some of our favorite news to come from the mega-store yet.
According to Retail Dive, Target is taking a pledge based off of its new “better living through chemistry” philosophy to both pull certain chemicals from its beauty shelves and make transparent ingredient lists available for consumers. Translation? The brand will be releasing comprehensive ingredient lists for its Target-owned beauty products so you’ll know exactly what you’ll be putting on your skin post-purchase.

“We believe everyone should have access to better-for-you products and our comprehensive strategy is designed to give our guests and their families greater peace of mind and confidence in their purchases,” Jennifer Silberman, Target’s chief sustainability officer, tells NewBeauty.com. “We’ve also committed to removing phthalates, specific unwanted parabens, formaldehyde and formaldehyde-donors from our beauty category by 2020.”
However, that’s not all Target has promised to its customers, it's also pledged to spend up to $5 million investing in green chemistry innovation and research by 2022. Considering there’s been a huge movement toward natural beauty in the last few years, we can’t help but be impressed with Target’s latest announcement. Luckily for us, it’ll certainly make those Target runs a bit sweeter (and guilt-free!) from now on.
