Enter the HAPIfork ($50), a pretty regular-looking utensil that’s kind of like a FitBit for meals. It basically works by measuring how fast you’re eating (it vibrates and lights up when you’re going too fast) and encourages you to slow down—which is the company's whole philosophy and what they claim helps curb weight gain and lessens conditions like digestive problems and gastric reflux.
There’s also a digital feedback feature, as the fork connects to a computer or smartphone via Bluetooth to give you real-time data and a coaching component and to help you track your progress. The end goal is pretty simple: The slower you eat, the less you eat and the more weight you stave off.
