If you’re searching for the latest and greatest makeup tricks, look no further than social media. Beauty bloggers reveal all their insider tips, from the brands they swear by, to their trendiest product picks. But it’s the latest tip to take off on Instagram that’s catching our eye—a multi-tasking foundation technique that’ll heal imperfections while also giving you a natural-looking finish.

Beauty blogger and makeup artist, Rianne Farhat (@riannemua), frequently posts makeup tutorials on her Instagram account showing off her latest beauty looks. However, the one thing that remains the same in each video is how she applies her foundation—by first mixing it with Bio Oil Multiuse Skincare Oil ($20).

Farhat claims she does this because it helps make the foundation thinner while still maintaining coverage. “I use Bio Oil in my makeup because I have dry skin and I believe it changes the way my skin looks and feels after I take my makeup off,” she explains. During the application, Rianne puts a few drops onto her blending brush or beautyblender and mixes it with her foundation. “I also apply it before my makeup on any dry areas I have around my nose in order to prevent my foundation from patching onto dry areas.”

Another benefit? Bio Oil is known for it’s ability to diminish the appearance of scars, so it’s great to use if you suffer from acne scars. Since it can be hard to remember to apply Bio Oil to your skin every night, adding it into your makeup routine can ensure you never forget to use it.
