This New Drink Accessory Has Beauty Benefits

Coffee is an essential part of millions of people's daily routines, but along with the much-needed caffeine boost often comes stained teeth, especially if you're a multiple-times-a-day java drinker.

That's where KoffieStraw comes in. Rita DiOrio, a coffee lover who always used straws when drinking her cup of joe in order to keep her smile nice and bright, was searching for an alternative to traditional plastic straws and couldn't find one that suited her needs. Thus she created this perfect little invention: a uniquely shaped silicone straw.

Not only does it cut down on environmental waste—we've seen what plastic straws do to our planet, animals, etc—but it also doesn't change the taste of beverages like stainless steel straws can. The stroke of genius that separates it from other straws on the market is that its design is angled and shaped in a way that slides right into the lid of to-go coffee cups from places like Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. According to the brand, the straw's angle also helps direct the flow of liquid behind your teeth, which helps prevent stains from forming on them.

Another plus: It essentially works for all types of beverages, not just coffee (black and green tea lovers, red wine drinkers and many others will benefit as well). And of course there are people who get grossed out by straws and wonder what's lingering in them after a few uses, but this one comes with a special brush so you can easily clean it, or just pop it in the dishwasher.

Two straws and a cleaning brush come in one order ($15; there are multiple colors to choose from) and there are two sizes (short and tall), so you can pick the right one to fit your favorite brew.
