Urban Decay's Newest Primers Have Surprising Anti-Aging Benefits
By Julie Ricevuto |
As any makeup lover knows, the key to ensuring that your foundation or eye shadow stays put all day long is to invest in a quality primer. However, while there’s plenty of worthy makeup primers on the market, none quite compare to the cult-classic Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($20). It’s been a staple in pretty much every makeup artist's kit for some time now, putting UD and all of its launches on every beauty junkie's must-watch list. Luckily, details of a spanking new launch have finally surfaced, and unsurprisingly, it's caused quite a stir among makeup artist professionals and amateurs alike.
The company announced via Instagram that it’ll be releasing a new line of primers called the Urban Decay Urban Defense Complexion Primer Collection that will not only deliver our usual primer benefits, but also a few skin care ones as well.
The full collection is made up of five different primers that target various skin concerns. Included in the collection are the “De-Slick” primer, which mattifies and controls shine; the “Self-Adjusting” primer, which blurs imperfections; the “Bright & Tight” primer, which improves radiance; the “Optical Illusion” primer, which makes pores vanish before your very eyes; and our favorite primer of the bunch: the “Urban Defense” primer.

While you’ll probably want to get your hands on each and every one of the products, it’s the Urban Defense Complexion Primer that has seriously caught our eye. It’s the only product out of the collection that boasts SPF 30, and because it’s created in a primer formulation, it’s completely clear. That’s right, it’s essentially a fully translucent sunscreen that evens out your skin tone, blurs large pores and helps your foundation stay put all day long. Talk about a win-win.
While it's clear that the added SPF sets the Urban Defense primer ahead of the rest, it’s certainly not the only one out of the collection to battle the damage that comes along with sun exposure. The Bright & Tight primer contains antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin B12, making it another under-the-radar free-radical fighter.
Sadly, you won’t be able to get your hands on these primers until spring 2017. So mark your calendars!
