Getting your body ready for a bikini is always at the top of the list as summer rolls in. But what about waxing? Some of us can be shy when it comes to asking our questions, which is why we’ve enlisted the help of Lura Jones, aesthetician at Stark Waxing Studio, for some quick tips:
• Skip the spray tan before you wax. “Waxing after a spray tan will remove your tan-get waxed first and then get your spray tan at least 24 hours later.”
• Avoid sun exposure and slather on sunscreen. It’s no secret that the sun wreaks havoc on the skin, but, according to Jones, a real sun tan can damage skin and make injury from waxing more likely. “The skin needs time to heal and waxing will only aggravate any irritation you already have.”
• Stay dry before your waxing session. “If you have a summertime waxing appointment, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment and cool off. Wax will not adhere to moist skin.”
• Exfoliate regularly. “Even though your skin may feel less dry during the summer months, make sure to dry exfoliate at least three times a week to avoid ingrown hairs and to maintain glowing summer skin.
