A study by Japanese microbiologists found that the active bacteria in yogurt can help attack the bad-breath-causing bacteria that live on the tongue when three-ounce servings of sugar-free yogurt are eaten twice a day.
After six weeks, study participants showed an 80% decrease in hydrogen sulfide, which contributes to bad breath. Plaque and gingivitis levels were significantly lower, too.
