In October, NewBeauty readers celebrated various top beauty products. They invested in serious skin care recommended by skin experts, like dermatologists, aestheticians and even an optometrist who weighed in on an “ideal” eye cream for lifting sagging upper eyelids. Over in makeup, our readers stood by the hottest names in the industry: MERIT Beauty, PAT McGRATH LABS (also Taylor Swift‘s go-to brand) and Jones Road. But there was one nail trend that captivated many all month long: soap nails. Our readers scooped up several nail polishes recommended by professionals to get the look.
For the top beauty products among NewBeauty readers in October, keep scrolling.
Dermalogica Phyto Nature Lifting Eye Cream ($115)
Prolonged screen time (the U.S. daily average is seven hours and three minutes, according to Backlinko) not only can pollute skin and accelerate “tech neck,” but it also puts extra strain on our eyes that can indirectly exacerbate drooping eyelids. New York optometrist Dr. Jennifer Tsai recommends Dermalogica’s Phyto Nature Lifting Eye Cream, an “ideal” formula of hydrating and tightening ingredients like quinoa seed extract, peptides, matcha butter, squalane, vitamin E, pro-vitamin B5 and CoQ-10.
MERIT Beauty Bronze Balm ($30)
I can personally attest that Bronze Balm is, as the brand describes it, the “easiest bronzer ever.” In seconds the smooth, creamy formula glides on and melts in for a second-skin finish, instant warmth and foolproof definition. We’ve also spotted it on the likes of Martha Stewart, Lily Collins and Nicole Richie recently.
Filorga Time Filler Shot 5 XP ($76)
Since Filorga’s “baby Botox-inspired serum” was restocked on Amazon‘s virtual shelves, our readers can’t grab their own fast enough. With so much fanfare surrounding it, I had to try it for myself. Within a week, my deepening forehead wrinkles looked visibly softer. See for yourself in my honest review here.
Jones Road What The Foundation ($44)
Another product NewBeauty readers continue to flock to thanks to another editor’s frank review is Jones Road What the Foundation. If you have dry or mature skin, this moisturizing makeup is a must-have for everyday light coverage.
CHANEL La Base Camélia ($32)
The nail trend our readers couldn’t get enough of in October was “soap nails,” the sheer and nude sister to another trend: “bubble nails.” “The beauty of soap nails is in their simplicity and the barely-there color, achieved through layers of sheer, customizable shades that match the natural nail tone,” explains the Creative Director at Zoya, Rebecca Isa. One product recommended to get the look? CHANEL’s La Base Camélia, a nail treatment famous for smoothing and perfecting the look of your nail beds in one step.
CO2Lift Carboxy Treatment Mask ($93)
When our executive editor asked some of the best aestheticians in the biz what at-home skin care they recommend, they did not hold back. Taylor Worden, New York aesthetician and owner of Taylor Worden Skin, revealed: “My favorite product I can’t live without is the CO2 Lift Carboxy Gel Mask. It’s a one-time mask that lifts, tightens, increases skin hydration, reduces swelling and redness and can help heal wounds,” she says. “It knocks off a good 10 years and makes your skin glow for a full seven days. It is the best product for a big event and can be used after lasers.” Sold.
LONDONTOWN kur Perfecting Nail Veil #4 ($20)
Another nail polish we love to get the “soap nails” look is LONDONTOWN’s kur Perfecting Nail Veil #4, a dusty rose tint that is wildly flattering on all skin tones and hides nail imperfections like magic.
SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum ($295)
Amazon is a gold mine for medical-grade skin care, and in October, so many of you opted for the dermatologist-approved SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum. Backed by Allergan—pharmaceutical giant and makers of Botox Cosmetic and Juvéderm—the serum uses dual-chamber technology and a formula of growth factors, peptides, marine extract and microalgae to lift sagging skin and smooth wrinkles.
Zoya Naked Manicure Perfector ($12)
Finally, the last “soap nails” polish our readers latched on to was Zoya’s Naked Manicure Perfector polishes. “Apply two to three layers of a Zoya Naked Manicure Perfector Shade—like pink, nude or buff, to create a sheer, healthy nail color,” Rebecca Isa recommends. To achieve the perfect density and tone for you she also recommends mixing Zoya’s Perfector shades.
Pat McGRATH LABS Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Hydrating Primer ($38)
Taylor Swift resumed her Eras Tour in Miami this month, where the Grammy winner performed another epic show in a downpour—but her makeup didn’t so much as move an inch. How? Her go-to makeup primer has a lot to do with it. Pat McGarth’s primer preps (and blurs) the skin for long-lasting makeup.
