It’s ingrained in our brains to apply SPF to our faces every day, but what about our lips? They are often overlooked and left unprotected (my guess is that most women reach for traditional lipsticks and glosses instead of SPF-based formulas), but they shouldn’t be. Lips, too, can get burned, leading to lip lines, brown spots and even skin cancer. Coola Liplux SPF 15 in Peppermint + Vanilla not only smells yummy, but also moisturizes lips and leaves them safeguarded from the sun with broad-spectrum protection. $12, coolasuncare.com

An essential summer beauty tip is never to leave the house without putting some kind of humidity-resistant product in your hair. By the time you step out of the door, it’s too late! My favorite is Living Proof No Frizz Humidity Shield, which is ultra-lightweight, yet packs powerful protection. At an editor’s launch event, I watched the product withstand 100 percent humidity (i.e. a steamer to the head) and not a strand frizzed out. You simply mist it onto dry hair and it does the work for you all day long. $22, sephora.com

Summer is by far my favorite season and I hate to miss a minute of it. That includes cutting down my morning routine and going on a semi-hiatus from my blowout addiction. The only hair product I have ever found to actually work on my big, frizzy hair for a legit spray-and-go-let-air-dry-style is Fekkai Soleil Beach Waves Tousling Spray. It somehow makes that perfect, natural wave that looks totally appropriate even at the office. $20, fekkai.com

Summer is the best time to let your hair air-dry. To get a curly style with no heat tools, I apply a bit of John Frieda Volume Building Mousse to damp hair and then wrap small sections around an elastic headband. I let my hair air-dry, and in a couple of hours I’ve got heat-free curls. $6, johnfrieda.com

After a day in the sun, there’s nothing I love more than to take a long, lukewarm shower (the temperature is key) and slather myself in Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion. I use it every day on my legs, but when my skin gets dried out from the heat (or the slightest hint of a sunburn), I apply it from head to toe. It’s a great way to rehydrate my skin and lock in moisture. Plus, it cools down my skin and leaves it feeling silky smooth. $9, walgreens.com

When summer rolls around, I love to play with color, especially when it comes to my eyes. My go-to is Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Eye Shadow. With more than 20 bold colors to choose from, I can wear it alone or under a complementary powdered shadow for a rich, sultry look. And, it’s formulated to survive the most extreme conditions, so it stays put all day without fading or creasing. $23, makeupforever.com
