Belotero: Facts On The Next Big Filler

Belotero is the latest hyaluronic acid-based injectable being considered by the FDA. Available in three forms-Define (for volumizing deep folds and wrinkles), Balance (for correcting moderate lines and folds), and Soft (for superficial lines)-it is touted for its ability to lift.

Belotero contains cohesive polydensified matrix (CPM) technology, which is not found in most fillers. This technology is a cross-linking process that gives the filler a unique elasticity and suppleness so it fits into all the tissue spaces, leaving no shadow lines.

Belotero is believed to last six to 12 months and can be used in the nasolabial folds, although it is suspected that it can be used off-label anywhere on the face that lacks volume.

Originally launched in Germany, Belotero is also approved in Austria, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, and the UK.
