Cancer does more than infect one’s insides, the diseases and its treatment also has the tendency to affect one’s outer appearance as well. Often times, these side effects are temporary and of small significance compared to the seriousness of the cancer, but studies show that improvements to a cancer patient’s appearance and self-esteem can be beneficial in their treatment.
Spa skin-care giant Natura Bissé has made it their mission to keep people’s skin as healthy and beautiful as possible, even those suffering from cancer and undergoing medical treatment. The way Natura Bissé puts it: “Feeling good about our appearance makes us feel stronger, and this should not change during an illness.” For that reason, the Spanish skin-care company, known internationally for their product range and spa treatments, established the non-profit Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation, which receives 0.7 percent of Natura Bissé’s profits.
Since 2009, the foundation has been dedicated to aesthetic treatment for those undergoing oncological treatments. It was during this time that Natura Bissé began collaborating with hospitals and patients to offer free aesthetic treatments to those undergoing cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. These aesthetic treatments, which are now a part of many different hospitals, include facial regeneration, deep body hydration, scalp hydration, back massage, massage for tired legs and pre- and post- radiotherapy. To date, more than 1600 free individual treatments have been performed. With their professional training program and team of established physicians and aestheticians, Natura Bissé plans for this number to grow larger and larger.
With quality products and the morals to match, it should come at no surprise that Natura Bissé took the title of “The Best Luxury Spa Brand” in the third-annual NewBeauty Choice Awards.
