With the sheer number of products we test each year as beauty editors, it speaks volumes when we hit pan on a powder blush or use a serum down to the last drop. In this new monthly series, we will share the products we finished (from skin care and makeup to fragrance, hair care and everything in between), and why they stole our hearts. This month, we’re sharing the NewBeauty Award Winners that won us over so much, they became permanent staples in our routines long after the testing phase ended. Scroll through to see our favorites.
Beauty Products We Finished in April
Patrick Ta Major Skin Hydra-Luxe Luminous Skin Perfecting Foundation ($58)
“This was a tough one to see go. I’m so glad this foundation came into my life. The peachy-pink undertone of my shade, which is hard to come by, did wonders for concealing my melasma. On top of that, the dewy finish gives my skin such a pretty glow. I always get compliments, and it’s never about makeup. People just say my skin looks great, I look healthy, happier. It gives me an aura. I can’t explain it. It’s definitely not just another foundation, and I’ll be getting another bottle stat.” —Tatiana Bido, director of aesthetic content
Saltyface Tanning Water ($44)
“This stuff makes tanning almost too easy. I feel more myself when I have a healthy glow, and all I need to do is mix a few drops of this into my moisturizer before bed. I wake up looking like I just got back from PTO. No wonder I run through these!” —Isabelle Buneo, editorial assistant
Personal Day Dive Deep Melavonic Moisturizer ($38)
“I have been scraping the bottom of this acne-safe moisturizer from Lili Reinhart’s brand Personal Day. It doesn’t bother my sensitive skin, so I don’t worry about applying it as often as I need, especially because it’s packed with acne-soothing ingredients. It’s the base of all my makeup looks and the last thing I put on before bed.” —Allie Hogan, senior beauty editor
Crest 3DWhite Deep Stain Remover Daily Toothpaste ($10)
“We also have a smile category in our Beauty Awards every year and test multiple whitening toothpastes. This one is a first-of-its-kind formula and made my teeth look whiter faster than others I tried. I’m not the ideal toothpaste model because my teeth never get super white, but I did notice a nice difference, so I’ll take it! I also like the packaging, which is different than traditional toothpastes with a concentrated nozzle, so you don’t dispense too much. You only need a pea-size, not the full length of your brush.” —Britt Fallon, director of beauty
True Botanicals Chebula Multi-Corrective Eye Patches ($75)
“I’ve been obsessed with these eye patches since I got my hands on my first jar—this is the second I’ve polished off. They’re very saturated, but not in a bad way. There’s plenty of serum left after you remove them to really soak in. The thing I like the best is True Botanicals stays ‘true’ to its roots with the design: The hydrogel dissolves in water after you use them, making them fully biodegradable.” —Liz Ritter, executive editor
YSE Beauty Like a Gloss ($38)
“I’ve been using this every night for months, and it’s my favorite part of my nightly routine. I love the texture of the coconut oil and hyaluronic acid formula, and it’s the perfect level of nourishing without being greasy or sticky. Finishing this mask is a bummer, don’t get me wrong, but I also feel a serious sense of accomplishment, and my lips do too!” —Rowan Lynam, staff writer
