Buttocks implants have a number of risks-including shifting and scarring-but that doesn’t mean you should seek out an unproven alternative from unlicensed practitioners. That’s exactly what six women in New Jersey did last week, and it landed them in the hospital.
Hoping to enhance their butts, these women went to an unqualified provider (the first hint that something was off) for what was supposed to be enlarging injection (the second hint). But the substance injected was ultimately what sent the women to the hospital.
According to spokespeople at the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System, the women were injected with what could basically be described as bathtub caulk. The women had surgery to remove the substance, which is believed to include non-medical-grade silicone, and were given antibiotics.
Sadly, it sometimes takes horror stories like this one to make potential patients realize the importance of going to a qualified doctor for their chosen procedures. These women learned their lesson the hard way, but you don’t have to.
