It’s hard to believe it’s been more than 10 years since Ashley Tisdale starred in High School Musical, which took the nation by storm. An actress, singer, fashion designer, blogger and now beauty entrepreneur (she’s launching her own makeup line, Illuminate by Ashley Tisdale, in collaboration with BH Cosmetics, next month), the 30-year-old star is busier than ever. And, with more than 13 million Twitter followers, she’s quickly become a social media queen—she’s even been called a “digital brand” by CNBC. Here, we get a little glimpse into Ashley’s world.

NewBeauty: What led you to create your own makeup line?
Ashley Tisdale: I’m such a big fan of makeup and I love being creative, so I wanted to share with my fans how to achieve makeup looks that I love. I wanted to give them the tools to do it and to remind them that makeup is supposed to “Illuminate” you.

NB: You’ve called yourself a beauty junkie. What are your all-time favorite products?
AT: A total beauty junkie! I love Giorgio Armani Foundation, Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, BH Cosmetics Flawless Brow Trio and Bobbi Brown Smudge Pot Eyeliner.
NB: You also have a fashion line, Signorelli x Ashley Tisdale. What wardrobe staples should every woman have in her closet?
AT: A great pair of jeans, a leather jacket, a skirt you can dress up and down, and staple boots that go with everything!
NB: What items are in your purse at all times?
AT: Sunglasses, wallet, keys, Chanel powder compact for when I get shiny, Illuminate Lip Gloss in Coral Reef (goes with everything) and Illuminate Beach Goddess Palette for touchups throughout the day!
NB: What does your skin care routine involve?
AT: I wash my face morning and night, put on SPF, then moisturizer. At night, I add eye cream to that routine.
NB: You’re constantly changing up your hair color. Which shade is your favorite?
AT: I don’t really have a favorite shade—the strawberry bronde was definitely a lot of fun, but I have to say mixing the blond and my natural root is a good one. I then feel bright, but still edgy.

NB: What one thing would your fans be surprised to learn about you?
AT: I meditate twice a day.
NB: Tell us a little bit about your website, The Haute Mess.
AT: I wanted to create a place for all my social media followers to go. The Haute Mess is a community where we don’t strive to be perfect, we embrace the “Haute Mess” in all of us. We have tons of contributors creating content, and with my audience, I get to share my spotlight with them!

AT: My friends, my girl Kristin Ess, my makeup artists Tonya Brewer and MakeupbyMario, and Gigi and Bella Hadid.
NB: What projects are you working on right now that we should keep a lookout for?
AT: I’m so excited for Illuminate to come out and we have even more products launching in the fall. For Signorelli, we’ve added layering pieces and jackets for Fall 2016, and I’m set to do a movie in June and another project I’m not able to share yet!
