Inspired by a line from Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra, Alexandra Balahoutis named her botanical fragrance company Strange Invisible Perfumes. Her intention was to create scents that go beyond stimulating a single sense by provoking memories and emotions.
Each unusually lovely fragrance in Balahoutis’s signature collection has been characterized not only by its scent notes, but also by persona. For example, Tosca is described as pure, impetuous and florentine; Galatea is described as crystalline, sacred and visionary; Prima Ballerina is described as dynamic, resplendent and exalting; Magazine Street is described as brazen, sumptuous and romantic.
In the unlikely event that you don’t connect with one of the Strange Invisible Perfumes- and if you can visit the flagship store in Venice, California-Balahoutis can create a custom perfume for you by conducting an interview, floral water tasting, and body chemistry assessment.
