The weather is finally warm, and May is Skin Cancer Awareness month. And while many of us use this time to refresh our sunscreen and try to remember to wear a hat, taking one month out of the year to protect yourself and your family is not enough. Skin cancer continues to rise.
The Skin Cancer Foundation reports that sunny states like California and Florida have the highest incidence of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. But Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Massachusetts rank among the top ten for melanoma, demonstrating the need to take precautions every day, no matter the time of year or your geographic location.
