A new study has been released from Archives of Dermatology that observed the incidence of melanoma among young women of assorted income levels. Results reveal that not only are melanoma rates highest among those women with the greatest income but the number of new diagnoses increased the fastest in that group as well.
Why is this? Well, it may be because higher-income women have better access to doctors and are resultantly catching more skin tumors but researchers don’t really think that’s the case. Doctors are not just finding early-stage growths but also developed growths.
The higher rates are most likely due to the fact that wealthy women are more likely to vacation at the beach, work in their gardens, visit tanning salons and have more free time to spend outdoors-all of which increase their exposure to harmful UV rays. So ladies, no matter how much you’re making, don’t forget the SPF. What are your favorite sun protection products?
