Are Face Transplants The Wave Of The Future? featured image

The world’s third face transplant was recently performed on a 29-year-old man in Paris. And while this is plastic surgery at it’s most miraculous, and it is about appearances, it’s considered reconstructive and used strictly to restore a more normal appearance to the face after disfigurement by injury or disease. The world’s first transplant was performed on a woman severely disfigured by dog bites. This most recent face transplant was performed to reconstruct severe disfigurement of the face and lips caused by tumors.

What does this mean to the world of beauty? Many of the advances and innovations in elective anti-aging and cosmetic medical treatments come out of the research that surrounds necessary medical treatments and reconstruction. As face transplant techniques continue to be refined and improved, we can only imagine what the future has in store!
