Anne Hathaway took on the role of Rebekah Neumann, the wife of WeWork founder Adam Neumann for a new show WeCrashed. To get into character, Hathaway took on some of Rebekah’s traits, including going raw vegan and becoming a yogi.

During her recent appearance on The Late Show, Hathaway shared her experience working with notorious method actor Jared Leto who plays Adam. Stephen Colbert then asked Hathaway if she dabbled in any method acting. Although she said she doesn’t do method acting as often since she had children, she did do a bit of immersive preparation for the role of Rebekah.

“I did get very into yoga, and I actually really want to thank my teacher who worked with me every single day getting ready to play Rebekah,” said Hathaway. She added that Rebekah is also a very passionate vegan, so she became a raw vegan while filming.

Raw veganism is a more intense subset of veganism in which food must be eaten completely raw or heated at very low temperatures. Hathaway got so deep in character that she wanted to stick to it even after filming stopped. “I’m like, ‘I think I’m a vegan now.’ My husband, we have been together for 14 years and he knows me so well, he went, ‘Oh, wonderful.’ Then three weeks later, when I was like, ‘I need a burger,’ he was like, ‘OK.’”

Hathaway admitted to eating meat, including an antelope, in Austin, TX, recently while promoting the show at South by Southwest. However, she continues to be an advocate for a vegan lifestyle. “It’s great, and we should do as much as we can to eat vegetables for the environment. We all know that I hope at this point,” said Hathaway.
