There are a number of reasons age spots develop, from sun exposure to hormones. And there are a number of light-based treatments that can treat this discoloration by resurfacing the skin or targeting the pigment. But if lasers make you nervous, there’s a lower-tech solution that’s been around for a long time: liquid nitrogen.
Whether they are raised or flat, liquid nitrogen is an effective and inexpensive method for dealing with age spots. The procedure can be a bit uncomfortable-it feels like a quick freeze on the skin.
And just like many lasers, liquid nitrogen has the potential to leave white spots or scars, so it’s not appropriate for everyone.
