What’s Your End to Split Ends?

Most hairstylists will tell you that the best way to avoid split ends is to avoid heat styling or coloring at all costs. However, for many of us, that’s a lot easier said than done—hence, the never-ending battle against split ends. So when we first saw the Jaguar TC ThermoCut System touted as an “end to split ends,” we were intrigued.

These new hair shears claim to battle split ends by sealing the hair shaft with heat as they cut. The heat then traps in moisture to protect the hair from damage, unlike your average shears that leave the cuticle open. They can heat up to 310 degrees and can be adjusted for specific hair types.

But while they sound like a dream come true, they definitely have their skeptics. “It’s really good marketing,” says Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend. “But you’re better off using a really sharp pair of scissors. You need a nice, good and clean cut—that’s the only way to prevent the ends from splitting.”

What’s your best defense for split ends? Products, haircuts, treatments? Let us know by taking our survery here.
