Every day, more and more people look to acupuncture for an alternative way to treat various ailments. And now, certified cosmetic acupuncturists are helping patients avoid injectables by using the hair-thin needles of this ancient practice.
The acupuncturists performing the treatments claim that, over time, results include reduction of wrinkles and diminished discoloration. Not surprisingly, celebrities known for their holistic tendencies like Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna are said to be fans of this simple and usually painless treatment.
Some spas have this treatment listed as an “acupuncture facelift” on their service menu, but the American Cosmetic Acupuncture Association strongly discourages use of the word facelift, as it gives clients unrealistic expectations. They also note that a commitment to extended treatment is usually necessary to see desired results. However, clinical studies do show that acupuncture can definitely have a positive effect on skin.
