A Week With Chefsdiet.Com: Day 1 featured image

I’m usually very careful about my diet, but when I got an opportunity to try ChefsDiet.com for a week I was eager to see what it was all about. You might think that at a starting weight of 115 pounds, I don’t need to go on a diet-and you’re right, I don’t. Here’s the situation: I was 34 days away from my wedding. I had the first fitting for my dress, and let’s just say I found out that I don’t have any wiggle (or jiggle) room.

ChefsDiet.com is based on the Zone Diet, which is uses a ratio of 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% “favorable” fats. One day, I came home from work to find a week’s worth of frozen meals (plus snack bars) sitting at my front door. It was packed in dry ice (which my then-fiancé-now-husband-had a great time playing with), and it’s divided by day so it’s easy to organize them in the freezer. ChefsDiet.com also offers fresh meals (refrigerated, not frozen) and a Kosher program that can be delivered in the continental U.S. If you’re lucky enough to live in the New York tri-state area or California, there are also daily delivery programs consisting of fresh meals (also available for vegetarians, kids and Kosher diets).

Starting today, I’m letting you read a journal of my seven days of ChefsDiet.com eating so it can help you decide if it’s right for you.

Day 1: 115 pounds

Breakfast
After a weekend of dining out, I was ready to get “back on the wagon” this morning. The only problem: I’m not a breakfast person, and the thought of eating a “Farmhouse Biscuit Breakfast” before my coffee even kicked in wasn’t sitting well with me. But after a minor microwave snafu (cooking the little plastic container of sauce), the poached/fried egg and turkey sausage links were actually pretty good.

Lunch
I guess eating breakfast helped me get to 2 pm without even a pang of hunger. Before ChefsDiet.com, I would have gone as long as I could without eating. But since my Monterey Turkey Enchilada with Fiesta Corn and Rice was waiting for me, I figured I’d try to stick to a normal eating schedule. It was flavorful and spicy-once again, I was impressed.

Dinner
It’s 9:30 pm and I just got hungry. I’ve been on the phone and puttering around the apartment since I got home from work two hours ago, so I suppose it’s dinnertime. The Smoked Chicken and Spinach Souffle-stuffed Portobello Mushroom was great. I was dismayed to see roasted tomatoes on the side (I don’t really eat tomatoes-ever), but they tasted like sun-dried tomatoes so I was into them. I stopped about three-quarters through to check my email, and then realized I was full. I finished it anyway.
