Psoriasis is not an uncommon disease. Characterized by an abnormally high rate of skin-cell growth (which causes red and inflamed skin), the chronic skin condition affects up to three percent of the world’s population.

The cause of the disease is unknown but one company in Norway, Avexxin, is currently working on a psoriasis treatment that could relieve millions of people of their bothersome symptoms. The treatment is made up of a compound that that could possibly inhibit the chronic inflammation that is associated with psoriasis. It contains a synthesized molecule based on the fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and is said to absorb more naturally into the skin.

Clinical trials will begin early this year to test the success of the treatment. Do you suffer from psoriasis? How do you currently treat it? Read what New York dermatologist Dennis Gross, MD has to say about psoriasis here
